Back in July we spent a week at Lake Powell with the Davis clan. And it was amazing as always! This is my favorite place on earth. I love being on the houseboat with my family, playing games, going for boat rides, taking naps, sleeping under the stars, eating delicious meals, and never getting dressed for an entire week! What more could you ask for? My kids had an awesome time as well. It was bitter sweet watching them at Powell this year. They have both grown up so much in the past year and have started overcoming their fears. They enjoyed the lake a whole lot more, but at the same time it makes me sad to watch how fast they are growing.
We couldn’t hardly get Brigham on a tube last year and this year he was tubing like the big boys. I tried riding with him at first because I figured he would be scared, but no way. He didn’t want anything to do with mama. He wanted on all by himself. I love seeing my kiddos having such a great time together. They really are the best of friends.

And here is Brigham literally jumping up and down in his tube because the ride wasn’t enough of a thrill for him. He definitely wanted to go FAST! Funny story–there were 2 tubes behind the boat this green one and then the red one below. Well, the big boy cousins were on the other tube and Papa really wanted to throw them off into the water so he is driving crazy and going fast totally focusing on the red tube. Apparently he forgot BRIGHAM was in the green tube because all of a sudden Brigham was launched several feet in the air. He was screaming, “Stop, Papa, Stop!” over and over again. This didn’t stop him from getting back in the tubes though.

I am not quite sure how this all got started but Troy decided to stick Brigham on this little tube and launch him down the side of the hill. They poured some soap down and then Heath would keep getting the rock wet and down Brigham would go. He did it for hours one day. Poor Heath. The other kids tried it too, but they were all too big so Brigham enjoyed this fun by himself.

I remember sitting on the boat just looking at Brigham’s curls and admiring them, but now as I look at them I am so grateful that I took this picture. Makes me kinda sad actually. I sure did love his curls. I still can’t believe they are gone. It feels like part of my baby is missing.

And it just wouldn’t be an event with Grandma Starr if it didn’t have a theme. Yep, everyday at Powell was a different theme. There was Napoleon Dynamite day. We all got Vote for Pedro hats, quoted the movie all day and then ended the night by watching it. I can’t remember all of the themes, but what I remember is how excited the kids were every morning when they found out what the theme for the day was and getting all of the cool accessories. I hope all of these kids realize what an amazing grandma they have. She truly is one of a kind. She is always trying to make everything special for everyone around her.
My favorite theme was Pirate Day. Seriously aren’t they just the cutest? And believe it not we are missing 5 of the kids in the picture below, but I am so glad I got this many to cooperate. This picture is absolutely priceless to me. Years from now this will be a classic Lake Powell memory.

I may be biased, but Brooklyn made the cutest pirate of the day. I loved that she would pose it up for me every time she walked by me. Arrrrrggggg.
I know this post is mostly about Brigham, but that is because I hardly saw Brooklyn the entire week. She had so much freedom with her cousins to roam, swim, play and do whatever she wanted. I think the only time I saw her was at bedtime. She loved having her own space and had a hard time coming back home where she couldn’t roam anymore. She is an outside kid for sure.

Just thought I would leave this post with a picture of gorgeous Lake Powell. This is the view we had all week from the back of our house boat. Yeah, I could get used to that.

Sorry for the picture overload, but I really love this place and I want to remember all the little details. It is my little slice of heaven on earth.
